Poem was a grass text planted in the Touchstone Gallery in Nelson BC during the SALT: The Distillation of Matter exhibition curated by Deborah Thompson. The origin of the word Poem is derived from the Latin poēma and the Greek poiēma, meaning composed, created or made. The intent was to produce a root casting of the word poem; exposing the roots of language. Here the verses are written in the tangle of fine rhizomes as a visceral homage to the earth itself.
